2015 Gift Guide for Your Fit Fella
Ok, so hopefully you’ve got everything your little heart desires. Now it’s time to think of the men in your life.
Rule #1 to keep in mind when shopping for men: they don’t know what they want. My husband (and sorry babe, you know I love you) was a fashion disaster when I met him. He wore jeans that were way too big, V-necks that were way too low, and color combos that were atrocious. Don’t even get me started on his activewear.
When I started picking things out for him, he was very hesitant about my selections — still is. He’ll look at me suspiciously as I hold up a pair of skinny jeans, wondering if I am trying to sabotage his style. Once he tries them on though, he’s always very pleased.
Same goes for my dad. He says he doesn’t want anything for Christmas, and wrinkles his nose at many of the ideas I throw his way. Christmas morning though, as he unwraps an awesome fit gift that he never knew he always needed, he’s usually pretty excited.
So, do the men in your life a favor this season and take the intimidating aspect of shopping for themselves out of the equation. Surprise them with one of these awesome fitness related gifts that they’ll be psyched to discover they absolutely love.
life/after/denim Bed Stuy Crew (on sale! $64)
This comfy crew sweater is ideal for the dude who loves effortless style. It’s fashionable enough for an afternoon of brunching and casual enough to wear for a low-key hike in Griffith Park.
Happy Plugs Mini Speaker in Marble ($99)
This chic little speaker is packing major power. It has 15 hours of battery life and works as an emergency power bank to charge your phone on the go. It also has bluetooth connectivity so your beach volleyball-loving business man (hey hubs) can go from using it court side to coordinating a conference call.
And if Marble isn’t your man’s thing – it comes in like 20 other dudely colors. But I’d get the marble… and then steal it (wink, wink).
Puma Mobium Elite V2 PWRWARM (On sale! $78)
These stylish kicks are not only built for speed, they’re also specially designed for cold weather workouts. The PWRWARM technology keeps heat close to the feet to maintain optimum temperature when it’s chilly outside.
SmartRope ($90)
This amazing new piece of fitness equipment is perfect for your busy beau. He can get his workout on anywhere with this LED-powered jump rope. The lights show your rep count in the air, mid-swing, so you don’t have to count them out in your head. It also pairs with your iPhone to keep track of your progress.
My man and I like to bring resistance bands with us when we travel for quick, airport workouts, and this year the SmartRope will be coming along as well. I’m curious to see the amount of shade we’ll be thrown for airport double dutching.
REM-Fit Adjustable Pillow ($140) + Sleep Tracker ($75)
My poor father gets an average of four to five hours of sleep a night. I’ve tried to help by making diet and lifestyle suggestions — quit caffeine, skip late night sweets, exercise daily — but nothing seems to work. This year, I’m targeting another possible source of his sleep deficiency — his pillow.
This pillow is made with memory foam, and designed specifically to regulate temperature and adjust to the body’s curvature for an optimal night’s sleep. The sleep tracker works synergistically, connecting to an iPhone or Android to not only track how much sleep my dad gets, but also the quality of his sleep. Additionally, it measures daily activity and the amount of steps he takes, and factors it all into a “LifeScore” — which will hopefully help him achieve his health/sleep goals.
STREET by 50 First Edition Stormtrooper Headphones (on sale! $123)
Is your fit fella a huge Star Wars nerd like mine? Then let the force be will him this season with these sweet Stormtrooper headphones. I know, we don’t really want to encourage their childish behavior, but at least these headphones serve a useful purpose — unlike the life-size R2D2 we recently brought home from my in-law’s house (for reals).
TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio ($135)
If you read yesterday’s post about the LA Spartan Race, you know how much the hubs and I love our TomToms. These durable watches do it all – activity tracking, GPS, and heart-rate monitoring. They are great for keeping track of your weekly runs or for more intense outdoor adventures like endurance cycling or backpacking through the mountains.
This Is Ground Tech Dopp Kit ($99-$199)
For the dude that just can’t seem to stop losing his keys — and his phone, his wallet, his earbuds, his charger. I know the type. This sophisticated travel kit keeps all his most important gadgets in one spot, making it much harder to misplace. This will not only save your man time and stress, it will also help you out — because we all know who ends up having to search for these missing items!

Awesome picks, and I totally agree when you say they don’t know what they want. I always end up buying a pair of Nike, but this year I also grabbed a new George Forman (husband was DEVASTATED when ours broke). xx
Whitney English says:
Lucky hubby! I would love Nikes and a George Foreman too! :)

Thumbs up for that Dopp Kitt. It’s always a pain in the butt to have to wrangle my bf into the car to go to the gym because he’s usually trying to find his headphones or wallet or keys… Great gift idea!
Whitney English says:
Haha, men! What can you do?!
