Chocolate Peanut Butter Frozen Banana Pops
Happy Labor Day friends!
I hope you’re all out celebrating your day off and splish-splashing around town, savoring the last weeks of summer.
I had quite the eventful weekend — from indulging in delicious eats at The Taste LA to taking multiple beach trips with my two main men.
I’ll be sharing more of that on Wednesday, but for now, here’s an indulgent recipe for you to enjoy at home on this sun-soaked (at least it is here in LA) Labor Day.
This frozen banana pop is the perfect treat for kids or adults to chill out after a long day in the sun.
Although it is a treat, it’s made with wholesome ingredients, so you can feel good about making a healthy — but drool-inducing — snack choice.
- 1 Frozen Banana
- ½ T. Peanut Butter or Almond Butter
- 1 T. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
- 1 T. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1 tsp. Stevia
- Optional Toppings:
- 1 T. Coconut Shreds
- 1 tsp. Chia Seeds
- Wooden Skewer
- Peel a banana and skewer it about half way through. Place in the freezer on parchment paper and leave in for several hours until it's hard and frozen through. Note: I left mine in for several days.
- Remove banana from freezer and spread peanut butter over the entire surface.
- If coconut oil is hard, warm it in a sauce pan until it's liquid and then mix with cocoa powder and stevia. Pour over banana, collecting excess in a bowl below. Repeat until entire banana is coated.
- Sprinkle topping of choice on the banana. Do this quickly before the coconut oil-cocoa sauce becomes completely hardened.
- Enjoy!
To be clear, this is a dessert and if you’re going to put down the whole thing, it should be reserved for a special occasions.
You can lessen the caloric blow though by splitting this bad boy with a friend, I’m sure they’d appreciate it (I know GZ did).
Enjoy!

Whit, your photos are amazing. I don’t even like bananas that much but I’d faceplant this. (after a while, it’s cold and my face would freeze).
Whitney English says:
Aw, thank you!! Be sure to wear protection when consuming. I don’t want your nose to freeze and fall off. I don’t think you’d be allowed in Sur looking like that ;)

Yum! I like this recipe because of how easy and fancy it seems all at the same time. I would totally make it with almond butter.
