Chocolate Cherry Decadence Smoothie
It’s rare that I dub something decadent.
Oh, who am I kidding? I love using flamboyant words. I mean, even the word flamboyant sounds pretty, well, flamboyant.
But I promise you that when I say this chocolate cherry smoothie is decadent, that is not an exaggeration.
I created the Chocolate Cherry Decadence as part of a competition with my friend, and Fit & Funny Foodies co-host, Gigi.

Using Manitoba Harvest’s new HempPro70 protein powder, we challenged each other to create the most delicious and nutritious protein smoothie possible. She with the Vanilla flavor, I with the Chocolate.
HempPro70 is an amazing source of vegan protein made from hemp seeds. It’s water soluble, meaning it’s quick to digest and get to work repairing your muscles after a tough workout.
After taste-testing my blend against Gigi’s “Pumped Up Pumpkin Smoothie” live on FitApproach’s Google + Cook-A-Long Wednesday, we decided we had both done a pretty awesome job.
So now, we need your help. We’re asking our readers to let us know which smoothie YOU think is better!
You can get the recipes from the video above, and print mine from the version below.
Once you try them, Tweet or Instagram a picture of your favorite to me @WhitneyLEnglish @GigiEats @FitApproach and @ManitobaHarvest and use the hashtags #pro70 #sweatpink.
Can’t wait to see your concoctions!
- 1 C. Frozen Cherries
- 1 C. Unsweetened Vanilla Almond or Coconut Milk
- 2 T. HempPro70 Chocolate Protein Powder
- 1 tsp. Cocoa Powder (optional)
- 1 tsp. Stevia (optional)
- Cacao Nibs (optional)
- Blend the first three ingredients together in a high speed blender. If you like your smoothies extra chocolately, add the cocoa powder. Extra sweet? Add the stevia.
- Garnish with cacao nibs (optional).
- Enjoy!
Don’t forget to watch the video for more information than you ever knew you wanted to know about cherries.

Chocolate cheery is one of my favorite combinations. Can’t choose so it’s both chocolate and vanilla, pumpkin and cherries, decadent and pumped! That makes me either indecisive or very versatile :)
Have a wonderful weekend Whitney!
Whitney English says:
I’m incredibly indecisive too – but I’m going to have to take a cue from you and spin it as versatility!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says:
This reminds me of a cherry cordial, which by the way, I love! I definitely need to give this a try! I love vanilla and chocolate smoothies and pumpkin and cherries! :-)

I’m so in need of some pumpkin in my life now that we’re nearing September. I would choose pumpkin, alongside some major protein. And by the way, I love the word decadent and tend to overuse it as well. :)
Whitney English says:
Good to know I’m not alone!
Dale Janee says:
This video is so cute and you two play off each other really well. Love both recipes and even though I’m not a huge cherry fan I have to go with the Chocolate for sure. It looks so good and like the perfect fix for a chocolate craving!
Thanks for sharing!

Whitney! I just made the chocolate one post -workout session and I have determined that if I can eat one of those after a workout I may workout more often just to have it! SO delicious. My husband actually texted me from work and was like, are you making smoothies without me? So I told him not to worry I’ll make him one when he gets home ;)
Whitney English says:
That’s awesome!! Glad I could help contribute to your workout motivation :)
