FFF: Five Things to do with Almond Cheese
Welcome to the second edition of FFF, aka Five For Friday.
I know I said I would be doing this every Friday, and I have failed to do so. I’m sorry. Let me rephrase what I promised earlier: I will be doing FFF some Fridays. Cool? Ok, moving on.
This Friday I’m going to teach you five fun things to do with Almond Cheese.
“Cheese made out of almonds?” you question, suspiciously.
Yeah, it sounds weird. But I bet a lot of people thought Almond Milk was weird too before they jumped on that bandwagon.
Almond Cheese is “A” for awesome. It has 60 calories a serving, 7 grams of protein, and absolutely no bad fat. It tastes like regular cheese (mostly) and melts perfectly. I always use it in place of regular cheese.
My favorite is from Lisanatti Foods. They have blocks of cheese, crumbled cheese, and shredded cheese in flavors like cheddar, mozzarella and jalapeno jack. Today, we’re working with Mozzarella Shreds.
5 Things To Do with Almond Cheese
Channel your inner child with a gooey, crispy grilled cheese sandwich. Simply mist two pieces of whole wheat bread with cooking spray, sprinkle the cheese in the middle, and grill on the stove, sprayed side down.
It takes about 2 minutes per side.
This cheese is amazing in quesadillas, and pretty much any Mexican dish as you’ll see below.
My favorite creation is the beet and lentil combo. It’s made just like the grilled cheese above. Just take two whole wheat tortillas, stuff with lentils, beets, and cheese, and melt it on the stove.
Complete directions at the link above.
- Pizza, duh
Cheese and pizza, it’s a no brainer. This pizza is a Mexican pizza, but my favorite pizza to make is pineapple and chicken apple sausage.
It’s so easy. Just grab a pre-made whole wheat crust from Whole Foods, and top with sauce, pineapple, sausage, and almond cheese. Pop it in the oven at 400 for 10 minutes.
Way better than Domino’s.
For this recipe, I used the Cheddar Shreds. Absolutely delish and no animal products for your veggies. Get the recipe at the link above.
- Sweet Potato Nachos
I saved the best for last.
This is a new recipe that I’ll be sharing with you shortly. But for now, I’ll tell you that Almond Cheese melted over nachos is the bomb.
These babies feature homemade sweet potato chips topped with lentils, cheese, guacamole, salsa, and “sour cream” (plain vegan yogurt). Stay tuned next week for the full recipe.
Hopefully these recipes will inspire you to run out and buy Almond Cheese asap. You won’t be disappointed. It’s so much better for you and your waistline.

I have to admit that before this post I didn’t even know there was a such thing as almond cheese and it looks really good, especially the grilled cheese. Plus I could actually cook that! haha Nice post Whitney…I’m going to buy this

So glad I could introduce you to something new! It is so good, you’ll love it! They sell it at Whole Foods btw :)

I was excited until I realized that there is casein in it…. ie: milk product.
Whitney English says:
I know :( It’s not vegan. You can make all the things below with cheese substitutes that are vegan though!
Celina says:
This brand of cheese is not vegan. What is the point of almond cheese if it isn’t cruelty free?
Whitney English says:
I agree – cruelty-free is the best! Some people simply avoid cheese/dairy because they are lactose intolerant, however, and this cheese would be ok for them.
