Ten 2-Ingredient Summer Snacks
These 2-ingredient, vegan, gluten-free snacks are simple, tasty, and packed with nutrients! They’re just the thing you need to tide you over until your next meal.
Despite the fact that I’ve already been enjoying my favorite warm-weather foods and activities for weeks now, summer officially starts this Sunday, and I am psyched for the seasonal flavors!
With rising temps and the laid-back vibes that the season brings though, comes a need for easy recipes that don’t require time spent in a stuffy kitchen.
I’ll be busy prepping for my nutrition program in August, so I’m already brainstorming ways to keep my kitchen time to a minimum. This means creating a long list of healthy, 2-ingredient go-to snacks to keep on hand for those times when cooking is not an option.
Having a routine when it comes to snacking helps me stick to healthy eating when I’m in a hurry and maintain balance with my busy schedule.
Here are my top ten 2-ingredient snacks that are quick, easy, and cool for summer.
1. Cashew Yogurt + Fresh Blueberries
Cashew yogurt has protein, healthy fat, and vitamins and minerals. Top it with berries, and you’ll have a tasty, antioxidant-rich snack!
Sprouted grain toast smeared with fresh avocado is such an amazing snack and so easy to make. Add a third ingredient – salt – for an extra burst of flavor.
3. Carrots + Guacamole
As a kid, my mom always had a plate of baby carrots and broccoli waiting for us after school. I always avoided the broccoli, then drenched the carrots in ranch dressing (kinda defeats the whole healthy premise). Bring nutrition back to baby carrots by enjoying them with some heart-healthy homemade guacamole instead of a super processed dip.
4. Dates + Peanut Butter
Dates are nature’s candy – they’re so moist and delicious. Fill them with peanut butter, and it’s basically like you’re eating a Snickers bar.
5. Cucumber Vegan Cream Cheese Bites
These crisp, creamy bites really hit the spot on hot summer days, and they take all of two seconds to prepare. Just spread some vegan cream cheese onto sliced cucumbers and get munching.
6. Nut Butter Banana Bites
Also known as banana sushi, sliced banana medallions topped with your favorite nut butter make a delicious mid-day snack or late night dessert.
7. Raw Peppers Slices + Hummus
This one is really great for people on the go. Both peppers and hummus can be kept unrefrigerated for a long time. Bring it with you on your next summer road trip!
8. Apple Slices + Tahini
Crisp, juicy apple slices go great dipped in creamy tahini. The perfect balance of nutrient-dense fruit and healthy fat!
9. Raisins + Almonds
The simple combo of raisins and almonds is the best DIY trail mix you never knew you needed. It’s healthier, cheaper, and in my opinion, tastier, than store-bought trail mix. Plus, it’s perfect for on-the-go!
10. Strawberries with Coconut Shreds
So simple, yet so good. While I also like to toss these two over some non-dairy yogurt, they’re a pretty fantastic duo all by themselves. This makes a great mid-morning snack or light, healthy dessert.

Love these suggestions! I am always a big fan of yogurts and love Chobanis. “Banana sushi” is another great quick snack.
I also will grab a (non-chocolate drenched) KIND bar and an apple as a quick on the go snack, which works well for me. Easy to transport and not too messy to eat :)

Banana sushi, mmm :) I’m a big fan of Kind’s low sugar bars too!

Great ideas! So much better than reaching for chips and popcorn when you get those between meal hunger pains!
Whitney English says:
Thanks! Although chips and popcorn can be healthy too…when you make them yourself!
Krissy @ Pretty Wee Things says:
Yummy! I love all of these ideas! I love love love plain popcorn drizzled with Apple cider vinegar at the moment…and maybe a tiny pinch of salt. Love the idea of frozen grapes and mozzarella, must try that one!
Whitney English says:
Ohhh I will have to try that. Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks too – I can’t believe I forgot to include it in this list! I’ve never added vinegar though and it sounds delish. Thanks!
Anh says:
Thanks, Whitney! These snack ideas offer simple, delicious and healthy options for staying effectively fueled while on the run. One question: do you recommend (or not recommend) buying these ingredients from any particular stores around town, as a way of finding “best” quality natural foods (with the least amount of insecticide and other unnatural additives)? Just wondering. Thank you!
Whitney English says:
Hi Anh! I am still on the fence about the absolute need to buy organic/non-GMO products but I am leaning toward yes. With that said, lots of stores don’t have these healthier options so I do tend to prefer shopping at natural foods stores. My favorites are Whole Foods, Sprouts and Erewhon. Hope that helps!
Anh says:
Yes, this helps – thank you for sharing, Whitney!
Jenna says:
I LOVE nut butters, seriously I think I may have an addiction. There are so many amazing brands out there and I love them all! Thanks for all of these good snack ideas though, you can never have to many options:)
Whitney English says:
I’d say a nut butter addiction is the best kind of addiction to have :)
Becky Anderson says:

Whitney English says:
Thanks Becky! Those three are my favs too :)

Yum! I love how easy these all are, especially in summer when we’re always on the go. I have never tried carrots with guac before! I love guacamole and I love carrots, so I definitely have to try them together! And “yes!!” to avocado toast. Thanks for these ideas!

Oh girl – you are in for a treat!!!
