Ladies’ Day at the Driving Range
Looking for an alternative way to spend time with your fit friends? I’m sharing the details from my fun girl’s date at a Los Angeles driving range.
When my husband has to work on the weekend, I make it a point to clock extra quality time with my gal pals. Since he’s been busy prepping for a big case, this weekend was a marathon of girl bonding.
Friday night started out with an invigorating vinyasa flow with my girl Danielle over at Swerve.
Saturday was spent catching up with my friend Sara over some drool-worthy ceviche at the new hotspot Verlaine in Beverly Hills.
And Sunday was the ultimate girl’s day out — starting with a fabulous brunch at my favorite vegan restaurant Gracias Madre with a group of my favorite blogger babes, and ending with an afternoon at an LA driving range with my pal Rachael.
As I mentioned last month, I’ve been getting back in the golf game, thanks to my partnership with Adidas Golf, and have been making a concerted effort to practice in between monthly lessons with my pro.
So when Rachael and I were brainstorming ideas for our next girl’s date, I suggested we check out the Aroma Sports Driving Range in Koreatown.
Rachael isn’t a golfer, but this little ball of sunshine is always down to try fun, fitness-centered activities, so she enthusiastically and open-mindedly jumped on board.
I’d never been to this driving range before, and the intoxicating smell of aromatherapy products when we walked in (it doubles as a day spa) almost detoured us from our original plan.
We stayed the course, however, and headed for the range.
The indoor/outdoor four-story facility is awesome. It’s spacious, clean, and surprising not busy on the weekend.
It cost $12 for a bucket of 100 balls — which provided Rachael and I with more than enough ammo for an hour of good-natured self-deprecation.
My first few balls were embarrassing grounders.
But luckily after a few swings, I got back in the groove, remembering the tips from my trainer Kyle and actually slamming a couple drives all the way to the back net.
It was an entertaining afternoon, and a great way to switch up the monotony of brunches and happy hours with the gals.
Although, I’m always down for a little Frosé in the summer time ;)
Next time, I promised Rachael, we’ll hit up the spa post-swing sesh!
