Models Erin Heatherton + Hilary Rhoda Share Their Fit Tips
How do NYC models Hilary Rhoda and Erin Heatherton maintain their hot bods?
Well, aside from consistently working out and eating healthy, they also attribute their fit physiques to a daily habit that everyone can easily accomplish…
…walking!
Living in New York, these two healthy chicks walk everywhere, all the time. So much in fact that they decided to put their street strutting to the test to raise money for a good cause.
This week the Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated models are competing against each other to see who can log the most steps in five days for Fitbit’s Celebrity Challenge. Fitbit and the American Heart Association have teamed up this month to raise money and awareness about cardiovascular health.

Fit Chat w/ Hilary Rhoda
Q: How do you get ready for runway shows like Victoria Secret’s?
I maintain my fitness routine throughout the year – not just before big events or jobs – so there really is nothing different that I wouldn’t do every other day of the year.
Q: What’s your favorite work out?
I do Tracy Anderson – it’s like a dance cardio party. And I take SoulCycle with some of the instructors I really like because it’s so fun it doesn’t feel like a work out.
Q: What are some other ways you stay fit, active and healthy?
I work out every single day – it helps me mentally and physically feel my best. I also like to play tennis and since I live in NYC, I walk everywhere. If I’m meeting friends for dinner I always walk to the restaurant and walk home afterwards and it feels so good to take that brisk walk home and digest. The last place I went to eat was about a mile each way, which is pretty good exercise!

Q: How do you get ready for runway shows?
I love to do ballet, SoulCycle and yoga when I’m getting ready for a show. It’s important to stay loose and long so I like to mix up high intensity workouts with a hot yoga class at Moksha. I love a volcano juice from Juice Press first thing I the morning and a gravity juice mid-meals. I eat greens and lean proteins to stay fit.
Q: What is your typical work out regimen?
Ballet is my favorite workout. Recently I’ve fallen in love with SoulCycle – I feel so energized after! It’s important to have fun when I’m working out and SoulCycle classes make me feel alive.
Q: How do you work walking into your daily schedule?
Walking after dinner, to my appointments and running errands is an incredible way I’ve learned to stay fit. My Fitbit Charge HR really inspires me to keep walking and not get in a cab. I love the challenge – it’s also great positive reinforcement! It’s great to see my progress and get a reminder to keep pushing myself farther.
Elsie @ Sharing Healthiness says:
I love these challenges to help raise awareness! Many women look up to these models and it is great that they are supporting such a great cause. I don’t track my steps yet I always try to walk everywhere or take public transportation. I haven’t driven a car in years!
Whitney English says:
That’s great Elsie! Glad you enjoyed the post :)
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says:
I’m a city girl and used to walk about five miles a day everywhere I needed to be in San Francisco, so I know that being naturally active like that is key. However, I just got a car — so things have changed! I’m sticking to my workouts though. Thanks for introducing us to these ladies!
Whitney English says:
Yes, having a car definitely dissuades me from walking as much as I should. But as long as we get moving one way or another!
Anna says:
Love this! I love walking to do my errands as I live in downtown Indianapolis. Sometimes the cold is just what I need to make me feel alive.
Whitney English says:
That’s so true. A burst of cold, fresh air always wakes me up!
Krissy @ Pretty Wee Things says:
Love the simplicity of keeping fit for these beautiful ladies. It’s clearly working for them! I need to pull my fitbit out again and start wearing it, such great motivation!
xx
Whitney English says:
Totally. They’ve motivated me to get outside with Mr. Chow a little more this winter!
Bethann Wagner says:
Now feeling guilty that I’ve barely walked since I’ve moved here! A driving city it is for sure! Great tips from both ladies – thanks for sharing.
GiGi Eats says:
As you know, I am not a huge workout class type of person, but I need to try Tracy Anderson… Cardio Dance Party… Hmmmmmmmmm! lol. I will try anything… ONCE! ;)
