Homemade Strawberry Blueberry Sorbet (Vegan)
Hi, I’m Whitney and I’m an ice cream addict.
To be more accurate: I’m an ice cream, frozen yogurt, soft-serve, sherbet, sorbet addict.
If it’s cold and sweet, I want it in my mouth.
Occasionally, I’ll drive an entire 45 minutes just to seek out the sweet, velvety comfort of a soft-serve, chocolate-cake batter swirl.
Some would call it a problem.
I justify this behavior with the fact that the yogurt I seek is only 8 calories an ounce.
Still, it’s full of all kinds of crap that I can’t pronounce.
In an effort to reduce my consumption of low-cal, nutritionally devoid dessert, I started experimenting with my Vitamix to come up with healthy, whole-food alternatives.
I’ve already got the Banana Froyo down to a science, so I’ve moved on to pulverizing other fruits.
As you may have noticed on Instagram, my mom was in town this weekend, and I was determined to impress her with my new frosty treats.
So after a delicious stack of banana pancakes for breakfast…
…a lovely day at the beach…
…and a fabulous dinner thanks to Amy Paffrath’s broiled salmon recipe with a baked sweet potato and asparagus…
…I created the most delicious blend to date.
This recipe is insanely easy, and — like a lot of my recipes lately — it only requires three ingredients!
Homemade Strawberry Blueberry Sorbet
Ingredients:
1 C. Frozen Blueberries and Strawberries
1/4 C. Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk or Light Coconut Milk
Stevia to taste
Directions:
1. Toss everything in a Vitamix, food processor, or high speed blender and pulverize until it’s smooth.
Note: to get it to mix without having to add more liquid, I had to use the Tamper with my Vitamix. If you’re using a food processor, you may need to stop occasionally and press the fruit down toward the blades to keep it going.
Enjoy as is…
…or add shredded, dried coconut for a healthy, crunchy topping.
Total Calories: about 85 w/o topping (with almond) or 115 (coconut)
This stuff stores well too. So if you can’t eat it all, freeze it for later.
It’s amazing how refreshing and delicious pure fruit can taste. If you stuck this stuff in a little pint container and sold it at Whole Foods, I would never guess it was so healthy.
I may never eat froyo again.
OK, that’s a lie. I definitely will.
But on the reg, this will stave off my sweet tooth.

Oh yum! Soft serve, froyo, etc. this time of year is most definitely the most perfect summertime treat! I made something similar to this a few weeks ago and it was fantastic and SO easy!

Me too! xo

Yum yum yum. I love it. I actually have been making “smoothies ” of frozen fruit so thick I guess they basically qualify as sorbet, too. ;)
Whitney English says:
Haha nice. With smoothies, I say the thicker the better!
Alex @ Kenzie Life says:
Looks awesome! I’m right there with you on the fro-yo, sorbet, sherbet, ice cream front. I will say that my favorite is just plain frozen yogurt (topped with a variety of nonsense) but compared to other vices I could have, I’d say this isn’t as bad so I let it slide ;) I do however want to learn to make my own frozen yogurt this summer (mostly because I don’t live 5 minutes away from a fro-yo shop anymore) and it’s got to be cheaper in the long-run! Have a great day, Whitney!
Whitney English says:
That’s true! There are much worse things you could be partaking in. My dream is to have a legit industry standard froyo machine in my house one day. Aw, I can see it now…
Jami says:
Okay first of all, this looks amazeballs! Secondly, I need a Vitamix! And lastly, you and your mom are adorable – looked like a perfect beach day! I absolutely LOVE all of your recipes and your down-to-earth blog! So happy I stumbled across it! :)
Whitney English says:
Thanks Jami! Happy to have you here :) I definitely recommend investing in a Vitamix. I’ve been using it for everything lately!

OMG your homemade sorbet looks amaze. I’m a total sweets fanatic (specifically ice cream & anything that involves peanut butter). Def trying this recipe out.
Whitney English says:
Oh yeah, peanut butter! I’ll have to make that next :)

I had so much fun with you Whit! It’s such a treat staying with you and enjoying all the good food you whip up! I remember the days when you and your sister called me the “fruit and vegetable freak.” I love you!
Whitney English says:
You’re still a freak, but in the best way possible :) Love you too!

It’s certainly a more pleasant experience than driving to the mall
and fighting with crowds and limited parking. The sides and back are covered
in a silicone material and that’s it. The battery backup of
the Samsung galaxy 5 mobile is also quiet impressive that delivers Stand-by: Up to 375 h (3G) and Talk time Up to 6 h 30 min (3G).
