From Downward Dog to Dinner
Don’t worry guys, this is not turning into a fashion blog. I’m definitely not cool enough for that.
That, and the fact that my fiance-turned-photographer does not have the patience to put up with the demanding diva persona that emerges whenever bulbs are flashing. We call her “Mariah,” and she’s not well-liked.
Despite what this looks like, these clothes are actually fitness-related. In case you haven’t been to lululemon recently, let me inform you — they are stepping it up majorly in the style department.
Their activewear, that was once reserved for the yoga studio, is now resembling apparel you’d see on the runway.
In luluemon’s Fall 2014 &go line, you’ll find bold florals, mesh cutouts and chunky knits that are perfect for taking you from vinyasa to the office to happy hour with your gals.
I got to check out the versatile looks recently at a brunch in downtown LA hosted by my friend, the manager of lululemon Robertson.
One of my favorite pieces is the adorable The Sweater The Better ($98) in purple – perfect for keeping you warm in these cool fall months, pre and post exercise.
I got it a few sizes larger than I would normally wear so it would fit nice and loose for layering. It’s soft and breathable, and I especially love the geometric embroidery and the thumbholes to keep my hands comfy.
I paired it with lulu’s naughty-but-nice floral yoga pants recently for a day of running errands, and tossed on my favorite Tory Burch Riding Boots and Chloe sunnies to pull the look together.
I think this ensemble is an excellent example of how fitness apparel can be jazzed up for everyday wear.
Another top that I am currently obsessed with from the &go line is the black and white floral On the Go Tee ($36).
That’s right, it’s on sale for $36. Mind-boggling, I know.
When I saw it, it reminded me of a similar style of shirt I got from TopShop last year – except that top was about $100.
If you didn’t tell me this was from lululemon, I would never guess it was made by an activewear label.
Paired with my Rag & Bone Harrow Booties, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC, black dress shorts and a chunky necklace, this looks like a pretty basic LA-getup.
What sets this top apart from your standard street-wear though is the fabric.
This top is made from moisture wicking, 4-way stretch, wrinkle-free fabric. This means you can toss it in your gym bag and have it still look amazing when you throw it on after a gym-sesh.
This photo was taken minutes after pulling it out of my overnight bag at a friend’s house to wear to dinner — after it had sat in a crumpled little ball in my car all day.
No one was the wiser.
Visit lululemon Robertson to check out these awesome looks in person and head over to their website to see all the cool free events they have going on each month.
I hope you all enjoyed this Fit Fashion Friday post and that you have a wonderful — stylishly active — weekend.
*Note: This post was NOT sponsored by lululemon. However, I did receive the clothing complementary because my friend is really awesome.

Love these pics! I JUST got some of the “to & from” leggings, and they made my Friday Favorites list today too:)
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says:
Love the pics! The leggings are awesome. I have noticed they are totally stepping up their fashion game. Since I am in work out clothes half the time anyway…this is really positive news. :-)
Laura @FitMamaLove says:
I just experimented with this today by wearing a jacket that’s part of a workout outfit with a regular outfit. I think it worked well because of the jacket’s style, but it’s not something I do frequently.
I’m so scared you’re going to fall in that last picture! :)
Whitney English says:
Haha I’m still alive and kicking but thank you for your concern :)
ganeeban says:
Love the sweater! So jealous you were comp’d the clothes! I’ve been stalking the Lulu “we made too much” ever since I found out about it! Love the top and did see it that section! xoxo, ganeeban
Whitney English says:
I just saw that section too and I’m going to be all over it from now on :)
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says:
I pretty much live in my fitness apparel. I’m really going to need those Lulu leggings

Torry @ A World Without Wheat says:
I love lululemon – I have a pair of their leggings that I wear all the time to work. I haven’t been into my store lately but it looks like a really need to stop in. I love that top and sweater!

I never would have guessed those outfits were active wear. Love that floral top!
Suzanne Gibson says:
whitney, your Dancers pose is scary but sensational.
GiselleR @ Diary of an ExSloth says:
I love the leggings and the sweater. Especially the sweater. That colour is my favourite this fall!
p.s. I think you’re plenty cool enough for a fashion blog. Or at least a fitness fashion blog…Werk that camera Mariah haha
Leah-Vail says:
Haha Mariah! Love this so much. Well Mariah is looking good in her photoshoot thanks to one pretty great photographer.
XO,
Leah
Mary Beth Jackson says:
Love it! I like tops that can change my cute running or yoga pants into a pitstop at the winebar after runner’s club or my favorite yoga class. Nice selections and cute pics!
Kay @ Kay Bueno says:
Those leggings are perfection. My work is super casual, so I’m often able to get away with activewear day to day, but who doesn’t want more stylish workout clothes?
