IDEA BlogFest & a Big Bear Bachelorette
You know those kind of vacations where you need another vacation to recover from your vacation?
My visit to Big Bear Lake this weekend was that kind of trip.
I headed up there on Friday to celebrate my friend Sarah‘s Big Bear Bachelorette Party.
I loved that she picked such a unique location for her “last fling before the ring.” Big Bear is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect spot to unwind and detach from the chaos of the city.
Don’t get me wrong though, this was a Bachelorette party and despite the serene spot, things got wild as anticipated. Let’s just say we all felt a little shipwrecked by the end of it.
Although I am super tired still and may need an extra cup of coffee this morning, I had such a blast with this amazing group of women and am feeling pretty marvelous none the less.
My fun-filled weekend was just the icing on the cake though. Last week was full of exciting experiences, including my first time speaking as a panelist at the IDEA World Fitness BlogFest.
In the interest of avoiding too much writing this morning — which would use up all of the brain power I have left at the moment — I’m going to give you the abbreviated version in photos.
#FoodFriendsLA brunch at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood where I got to meet famed foodie blogger and fellow Tucsonian, Gaby Dalkin of What’s Gaby Cooking.
Celebrating the 5-Year Bloggerversary of Kasey’s Kitchen with my friend Leah.
BlogFest!
I’ve got my presenter badge to prove it.
My panel on working with brands with Fitfluential founder Kelly Olexa, PR Maven Tracy Hollywood and Sweat Pink CEO Jamie Walker.
A quote that helped psych me up for the otherwise nerve-racking experience.
My Big Bear bunkmate for the weekend.
Gotta get my healthy b-fast in, even on a Bachelorette. I whipped up this veggie scramble for a few of the girls.
Tubing with my friend Claudia.
Taking the plunge.
The beautiful bride to be @SarahK_LA
Cabin Fever.
And I didn’t say we were “shipwrecked” for no reason. That’s right, our fearless Captain for the weekend, Molly, hired a pirate instead of a stripper.
Ahoy Ladies!

Working with brands sounds like an interesting panel! Is there a recap or powerpoint overview on it anywhere? Would love to read or listen!
Whitney English says:
Hi Deanna! I may write a recap with a few key points from the panel – stay tuned!!
Alison @ The Fit Chronicles says:
That looks like so much fun! I once had a friend’s bachelorette in Miami, my city, and I totally had to crawl my way home. Never felt so dead after a quick weekend. The part I found funny was that my cozy house, husband, and cuddly dog were merely miles away while us girls were straight up raging.
Congrats on speaking at the conference! What an opportunity!
Whitney English says:
Yes, it’s too bad my friends didn’t all decide to get married when we were in our early 20’s. I would have tolerated Bachelorette’s much better back then haha!
Jamie Walker says:
You had an epic weekend, girl! Loved meeting you and you ROCKED the panel!
Whitney English says:
Thanks Jamie!! Loved meeting you too. Hope to see you again soon! xoxo

Congrats on speaking! So fun! I’m sure you did awesome! I LOVE bachelorette parties. I’m sad that I’ve entered the last year or so of friends getting married- now it’s baby showers over bachelorette weekends! Looks like fun though- excited to see you this weekend!
