How to Make Green Beer Without Dye
Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone!
While just a few years ago you probably could have found me taking down a few green pints, this St. Patty’s Day a green tea latte and some kale chips are a lot more my speed.
However, if you’re still in Patty’s Day party-mode and looking for a festive drink to celebrate that doesn’t contain a pot o’ gold-full of nasty green dye, look no further.
While a little dye isn’t going to kill you, it certainly isn’t good for you.
Studies show that food coloring may cause hyperactivity in children. Although if your kids are drinking green beer, you probably have bigger problems on your hands.
Still, my solution is not just not bad for you, it’s actually good for you, and will help you sneak a few vitamins and antioxidants into your happy hour.
Now when you’re explaining your hangover to your boss tomorrow morning, you can tell him you had the company health plan in mind while imbibing.
Healthy & Dye-Free Green Beer
Ingredients:
1/4 C. Pure Green Juice (no fruit, lemon, lime, etc. added)
1 Light Beer
Directions:
1. Pour beer into 1/4 C. green juice. That’s it.
Total Calories: about 100 for a light beer + about 20 for the juice.
As long as you make sure to buy a green juice that has simply greens in it (kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, etc), you will not be able to taste the difference at all. Leprechaun’s honor.
And if clean, green food is more your speed, try last week’s vegan Avocado Pasta.

That’s pretty darn savvy! All weekend, I’ve been watching people put food coloring into their beers and now I can recommend something healthier! Happy St. Patty’s Day, Whitney!

If your kids are drinking beer, you have bigger problems, hahaha. If you add green juice, it’s healthy, right?

Yeah totally :)

That’s such a good idea and I never would have thought you could do that without dye. Lol about the keg comment. It’s weird how much things can change with St. Patrick’s day. We walked down to the park past an Irish bar where everyone was partying and went to the lake to have a gelato. haha…Soooo different from a few years ago.
