Skinny Raspberry Christmas Cocktail
In L.A., there’s a cocktail party every night of the week.
From a friend’s ugly sweater party, to your office’s year-end bash, to Toys for Tots’ galas. And then of course, there’s always that obnoxious person who decides to throw a dog’s birthday party smack dab in the middle of this chaotic period.
While all the festivities are fun, they can obviously wreck havoc on your diet. Between cheesy, fried apps and sugar-laden sips, you’ll be well on your way to looking like Santa by New Years, eek!
I kid. The average person only gains about a 1-2 pounds over the holidays.
Regardless, you don’t want to be overdosing on sugar. With 4 oz of apple cider and 1 T. honey, the average Spiked Hot Cider can has about 30 grams of sugar a serving.
While there area tons of easy ways to avoid this at friend’s parties — eat before you come, skip the artisanal bevies and opt for vodka sodas or a glass of wine — if you can have your festive Christmas cocktail and enjoy it too, why don’t you?!
So, if you’re throwing a Christmas bash this weekend and want to be remembered as the hostess who was naughty and nice, serve up this delicious Skinny Raspberry Prosecco Christmas Cocktail.
It’s made with raspberries for spirit, Prosecco (because you know how I like a good Spritz) and Voli Light Vodka.
While you can use any raspberry vodka you’d like in this recipe, I like Voli Light’s Raspberry Cocoa flavor. It’s only 55 calories an ounce.
Skinny Raspberry Christmas Cocktail

3 oz. Prosecco

4. Combine vodka, raspberries and ice in the glass.

You can get pretty candy cane cocktail straws like this at The Paper Source, or online for under $10.
Note: Take it easy on these babies as they are pure alcohol. Space them out with a glass of water to stay bubbly yourself, all night long!

Weigh In: What are you sipping on this season? Do you usually go for the custom cocktail or do you stick to your usual? How do you avoid overindulging at holiday parties?
Davida @ The Healthy Maven says:
I’m all about indulging during the holidays but I’m not down with drinking my calories. Give me real shortbread and skinny cocktails. I say we turn our real housewives workout into a drinking game, with these. Bods like Brandi if we stick to the skinny version right?
Whitney English says:
That is an amazing idea :) And I’m totally serious about this. Let’s take this convo off line and start our amazing plan!
Davida @ The Healthy Maven says:
I’m totally serious too haha. I’m off to Minnesota today (don’t ask…) but when I’m back in a week I’ll shoot you an email. Happy Holidays!

You know the way to my heart is through bubbly. This and your skinny Moscow Mule are going into my arsenal of alcoholic goodness.
And BTW – Mr. Chow’s birthday deserves it’s own holiday and should be celebrated as such. I would blow off all my other parties to attend a dogs birthday ;)
Whitney English says:
Well you will be sure to get an invitation next year! Def try the cocktails, they are pretty amaze :)

This looks so delicious, and I’m loving the candy cane straws :) Definitely a good idea to make a skinny drink, since so many cookies will be consumed (not mad about it!)
Whitney English says:
Good call. I’d rather eat my splurge calories instead of drink them!
Dana@chocolateandsunshine says:
This looks delicious! I recently used Prosecco in a Sangria recipe and loved it. I have to bookmark yours as it looks delicious. I love raspberry, too. Met you via IHeartHands-on Linky. Glad I found you.

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says:
I love this idea! The idea of coca vodka sounds awesome, and the frozen berries are such a nice touch! I hate when my drink gets too warm.
Whitney English says:
Great idea. I could totally have used the frozen raspberries instead of ice!
GiGi Eats Celebrities says:
Obnoxious? NO WAY! Mr. Chow’s BIRTHDAY IS A HOLIDAY – DUHH! What ground stevia did you use around the rim? I AM LOVING YOUR FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY!!!!! This is the new camera right? :)

I used Truvia on this but any granulated sugar would work.

I have gotten in to tee ha it of opting for wine, but this looks worth serving at the next party we throw! Question: how do you feel when you wake up after a night of 2-3 of these?
Bethann says:
Eeek! Excuse the typos… Written from my phone!
Whitney English says:
No worries, it happens!
I always drink wine too but this is a fun way to switch it up for special occasions. And I can’t tell you how you’d feel after 2-3 because I’ve only had 1 haha. Let me know if you find out :)
Arman @ thebigmansworld says:
Firstly, your pictures are amazing- love it!
Secondly, you guys have the best alcoholic spirits available- Australia thinks they are so creative with their apple vodka. Yeah, step back.
Have you heard of Soho before? Without a doubt the best liquor- you mix it with lemonade and it’s amazing!
