Brooke Burke Talks Sweating in Style
Not only is Brooke Burke super gorgeous and super nice, she’s also a native Tucsonian like myself, which makes her even cooler in my book.
As my fellow Wildcats would fondly say, we’re “T-Locs.” Holla.
I’ve interviewed Brooke in the past and she’s always so fun to chat with, so I was excited to catch up with her again this weekend as she unveiled her new activewear line, Caelum.
The new fitness brand features sexy and functional pieces, all retailing for under $100. Major plus. So while you may never have abs as hard as Brooke’s, you can at least afford to channel her hot style.
Read on as Brooke shares with me her tips for staying fit, her favorite songs to sweat to this summer, and more deets on her hot new line.
Whitney English: What exercise or class will we never catch you doing?
Brooke Burke: You will never catch me doing pull-ups or boot camps, because I need music and rhythm to work out.
WE: Spill, what are your top 5 songs to sweat to right now?
BB:
- Animals – Martin Garrix
- Do What U Want – Lady Gaga
- Push It – Salt-N- Pepa
- Hold On, We’re Going Home – Drake
- Stay With Me (remix) – Sam Smith
WE: How many days a week do you usually work out?
BB: I work out between four and six days a week.
WE: Do you prefer working out with friends or going solo?
BB: I often prefer to go with friends. I love the community concept and the energy you can pull from a group. Also, having a commitment with friends keeps you honest.
WE: Who’s your celeb “fitspo” (another celebrity whose bod you admire)?
BB: Giselle, of course!
WE: How has your fitness regimen changed as you have gotten older?
BB: I work out stronger, harder and smarter. I also understand my body and what I need to do to blast fat, tone and tighten.
WE: What is your fitness motto?
BB: If you’re not sweating, you’re not working hard enough.
WE: How would you describe your fitness style?
BB: My style is colorful, fashionable fitness, and full of chic/sexy layers.
WE: Tell me about Caelum. How did you come up with it and how does it differ from other brands out there?
BB: Caelum is lifestyle and fitness fashion. We start with core fitness pieces and add layers so women can transition from the gym to the street. I want women to live their fittest life and dress the part. Caelum should inspire and motivate women to work out. The acronym is the message I hope to share with all women: be Creative, be Active, Evolve every day, Live your best life, Uplift women, Motivate and get it done!
WE: What are your favorite fitness activities?
BB: I do a Pilates class a couple times a week, and then I teach my booty burn class three times a week, if I’m not working. My booty burn class is a full-body work out, it works multiple parts of the body at the same time. Basically, it’s a whole mess of sweat! You feel cleansed after the class, but you look like you’ve just gone ten rounds of extreme fighting; it’s very attractive.
WE: What do you tell yourself to motivate yourself on days you don’t feel like working out?
BB: I firmly believe you have to be stronger than your excuses. There are a lot of tips and tricks, but no real secrets.
Making a commitment with a friend, signing up for a gym membership, purchasing a DVD, signing up for a workout class are all really helpful and keep you honest. I also think women need to mix up their workouts, set reasonable goals and make the commitment to start.
WE: You have them, so give it up, what’s the secret to rock hard abs?
BB: Here’s my big secret, there isn’t one. No tips, no tricks. It’s just a bunch of hard work, lots and lots of sweat, maybe a few tears along the way, and making healthy choices about what I’m putting into my body.
WE: DWTS was a fitness-related show, do you have any plans to do any other health/fitness related TV in the future?
BB: I currently have a DVD with Sony and have already produced four titles, and plan on producing four more in the next year. For these DVDs, I did not just lend my name, but instead I developed workouts such as Sexy Abs, 30 Day Slim Down, Tone and Tighten and Strength & Condition that individuals at a variety of different fitness levels can use and truly work!
