My 2014 Coachella Must Haves
Are you guys getting sick of hearing about Coachella yet? If so, I apologize. You’ll only have to hear about it for a few more days because the festival is four days away!!!
I’m so excited I could take back-to-back Sweat Garage classes. Eh, maybe that’s a little extreme.
But I am so excited that I’ve had my suitcase packed since last week. Planning what to bring to Coachella is half the fun.
You guys know how much I love a good theme, and dressing up for Coachella is basically like picking out your Halloween costume. You get to sport outrageous headgear and rock styles usually reserved for people who live in Los Feliz. The costume: hipster.
The only part I dread about the vacay is being away from my kitchen. I’m such a creature of habit that it’s hard to not have my staples on hand. So the last part of my Coachella prep is making snacks for the weekend. I bringing some uber-tasty goodies this year.
With my food & fashion accounted for, I think I’m ready.
Need some suggestions for your Coachella checklist, or any other fab summer travels you have coming up? Check out my Must Haves:
1. A Cut Out Swimsuit.
Cut outs are all the rage and what better way to rock them than on an understated one-piece swimsuit. I love this particular suit from De Rex Actionwear because you can wear it to the pool, then throw a pair of wide leg pants or a long skirt over it for the polo fields. Toss a super cool hat on top and you’ll be as fly as Pharrell.
2. Kale-Nola
You can really work up an appetite dancing your booty off all day. I’ll be keeping mine in check with handfuls of my homemade “Kale-Nola”, aka Kale Granola. This stuff is so addictive that FabFitFun featured it on the site last week.
Extra bonus, it will be really fun psyching out the security guards at the bag check. “Um miss, can you please explain this green leafy substance…?”
3. A Crossbody Bag.
I can’t say it enough: crossbody bags are must-haves. Not just for Coachella, but for life.
I have this one from Rebecca Minkoff in black and a similar style in rose gold and I wear them practically everyday, everywhere I go. Dressed down for grocery shopping, dressed up for a night on the town. This bag is seriously one of the best fashion purchases I ever made. It’s perfect for summer concerts because it’s small enough to wear while wildly gesticulating to Outkast, and big enough to fit your essentials — like the aforementioned fuel bars. Try a fun color like mint green to stand out from the masses.
Did you really think one snack would cut it for me? These homemade coconutty bars are awesome for on-the-go refueling. Portable, delicious, and full of energy inducing nutrients. Yum.
They’re also great currency for paying off your friend’s brother to watch your dog while you go to a four-day festival. Thanks Gigi‘s bro!
5. A Flowered Headband.
If you are going to Coachella, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
Why? Because it’s fun.
Cult Gaia, who I got that awesome turban from last week, has really cute options. If you’re not down for dropping big bucks on faux flowers though, there are a ton of easy DIY tutorials (like this one) on Pinterest.
6. Mint Green Nail Polish.
It’s the color of the season. Need I say more?
Try Essie’s Fashion Playground.
Pants like these are perfect for the fields because they’re lightweight with room to breathe, and not too constricting for dancing. Mix them with a crop top or a bathing suit/bodysuit like the one above for a sexy — but not slutty (I’m looking at you butt-baring denim shorts) — festival look.
I have a super flowy pair that I’ll be sporting with the De Rex suit. Be on the lookout for Instagram pics.
I couldn’t find the exact ones I have to show you guys, but I did find this totally awesome pair for only $25. You can thank me later.
